When my brother moved away for college this past fall, I worried about my parents making the transition to become empty nesters. For various reasons, I envisioned them having a difficult time adjusting to a quieter house and fewer commitments. I sat down with them six months after my brother moved out to ask how they were handling this transition, and their answer surprised me.
